SCUSD sponsors high school recruitment fair
‘Choose Your Future’ helps students and parents learn about district’s college prep and career pathway options
November 13, 2013 (Sacramento): Middle school students can explore high school options on Thursday (November 14) at SCUSD’s fourth annual Linked Learning Recruitment Fair.
“Linked Learning” is the district’s signature approach to high school redesign and is aimed at ensuring that every student graduates ready for college and the world of work. Students choose an employment sector that interests them – health and medicine, law and public policy, construction and manufacturing, etc. – and learn professional skills in the classroom while getting a variety of work-based learning experiences such as mentorships and internship opportunities.
SCUSD’s lineup of high schools and high school programs includes 22 Linked Learning pathways in such diverse fields as engineering, graphic design, robotics, law enforcement and culinary arts. Students in Linked Learning programs are supported through graduation with counseling and guidance, curriculum resources, highly qualified Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers and connections to local industries that partner with SCUSD schools.
