Sacramento City Schools hosting public meeting today for ‘Central Kitchen’ project
WHAT: The Sacramento City Unified School District invites the public to learn more about the launch of its Central Kitchen project at a public meeting today. SCUSD’s Central Kitchen project was approved by voters in 2012 as part of Measure R. District officials expect the Central Kitchen to help offer students healthier food options that will include more local fruits and vegetables and menu items created ‘from scratch’. The district also expects to improve the quality of food served to students and ensure food safety from product delivery to consumption. The purpose of the community meeting is to share information with the public about the status of the Central Kitchen project, next steps and solicit community input on menu options. Parents or other interested members of the public who wish to offer comments and suggestions may also do so by e-mail at central-kitchen@scusd.edu .
WHO: Superintendent Jose Banda, SCUSD Board Vice President Jessie Ryan, district staff and designers, parents, students, community members and the general public.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 7th from 4p.m. to 6 p.m.
