District statement regarding immigration enforcement
Dear Sacramento City Unified families and staff,
Nothing matters more to us than the success and safety of our students. Since 2017, SCUSD has proudly called itself a Safe Haven School District – a title that reflects our unwavering commitment to the education and well-being of all students no matter their immigration status, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, religion, ability, sex and gender identity, socio-economic status or beliefs.
That commitment remains as strong as ever.
SCUSD Settles Versher Lawsuit With No Direct Payment to Plaintiff
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District announced a settlement in the lawsuit brought by former employee Dr. Elysse Versher in June 2022. Versher alleged she was subjected to multiple forms of racism, harassment and retaliation during her employment as Assistant Principal at West Campus High School.

At the January 16 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board, the Board recognized 13 members of the Miwok Middle School Girls Cross Country team for winning the 2024 Middle School National Championships held in Louisville, KY. The national meet attracts top-level middle school teams from throughout the United States, including many state champions.

The School Accountability Report Card (SARC) aims to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. To download a copy of the SARC, click the language next to the school’s name. Also, upon request, a copy may be obtained from the school (Education Code §§ 35256, 51101).
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Enrollment Starts Today. Don’t wait, register early!
Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten begins today, January 13, 2025. Many schools have limited spaces, so it’s important to register early to secure a spot at your neighborhood school.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Lottery
To be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten, children must turn four years-old on or before September 1, 2025. TK will be offered at 45 of our elementary and K-8 schools, and placement is determined through a lottery.

TK and Kindergarten Enrollment Event

The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) is hosting regional enrollment events to assist families with online enrollment applications for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten. These events are designed to support families with technology or help filling out their applications.
Online enrollment for TK and Kindergarten opened on
January 13, 2025.
To register for kindergarten, families will need to provide photo identification, address verification, proof of birth documentation, and the child’s immunization record.
