Five Sac City schools
were selected as 2008 California
Distinguished Schools, State
Superintendent Jack O’Connell announced
recently.
Crocker Riverside,
Golden Empire,
Pony Express, and
William Land elementary schools and
Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School
were among 343 exemplary California public
schools honored by the California
Department of Education (CDE).
“Congratulations to the students,
teachers, principals and entire staff of
each one of these schools for their focus
and commitment to high standards and high
expectations for all students,” Sacramento
City Unified School District
Superintendent M. Magdalena Carrillo
Mejia, Ph.D. said. “They truly exemplify
